U.S. House panel OKs DVD filtering

The House Judiciary Subcommittee voted 18-9 in favor of the Family Movie Act, which would prevent Hollywood movie producers from suing manufacturers of DVD players and other devices that filter naughty content. Critics say the bill is aimed at protecting Utah-based ClearPlay Inc., whose technology is used in some DVD players to mute adult dialogue and skip over sexy scenes.
